Mr. Rajtar's new role and responsibilities will encompass all matters pertaining to the coordination and oversight of MIVT's extensive and expanding R&D initiatives and programs. According to MIVT CEO Alan Lindsay, the promotion comes in recognition of Mr. Rajtar's longtime leadership and management role within the Company's technology and research operations.

"Arc's new appointment is well-deserved," said Mr. Lindsay. "It is a reflection of the reality that Arc has been truly instrumental in advancing our research programs, which have progressed substantially in recent months under his stewardship. Landmark research studies and new technology initiatives are now in the works. Arc's title of Chief Technology Officer keeps pace with this progress and reaffirms what he has already been doing here with great success."

Mr. Rajtar said he was excited to be named to the new position. "The most important task now is to maintain focus on the continued progress and validation of the remarkable scientific contributions of the MIVT and University of British Columbia R&D teams. Simultaneous with the methodical pursuit of our commercialization objectives, we continue to expand the boundaries of innovation in our fields of expertise. It is an exciting time now for MIVT, which has very decisively entered an accelerated period of growth and progress. This includes the continued vibrant cooperation with UBC, as well as the dynamic organizational changes necessary to commercialize our next-generation technologies," he said. "In addition, our advancements in the development of biocompatible HAp-based coatings for drug-eluting stents, and for other medical device coating solutions, have led to continuous expansion of our intellectual property portfolio and potential new business opportunities."

Mr. Rajtar came to MIVT in February 2002 with a strong background in the development of medical devices. He has extensive experience in a broad range of advanced technologies and served previously in a number of executive positions with world-class companies. Over the last 14 years he served in key positions with startup companies in the medical device field and other areas integral to the medical industry. Mr. Rajtar also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Metals and Materials Engineering. Mr. Rajtar is also a Director of MIVI Technologies, Inc., a wholly-owned manufacturing and research and development arm of MIVT, where his responsibilities include coordination of research and validation programs and key support to business development initiatives toward the expected commercialization of MIVT's proprietary technologies.

MIVT is developing and pursuing the commercialization of safe and biocompatible coatings for stents and other medical devices to provide improved solutions for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and other medical conditions. In a strategic collaboration with the University of British Columbia, MIVT has developed one proprietary ultra-thin coating formulation to protect surrounding tissue from chemical interaction with bare-metal stents, an interaction which typically causes aggressive response of the immune system resulting in elevated restenosis, or renarrowing of arteries, and a risk of thrombus in the stented artery.

MIVT's suite of innovative coating technologies are based upon a natural material, Hydroxyapatite (HAp), a component of hard tissue found in certain parts of the human body, such as bone, which enables the surface of metallic stents to virtually mimic the natural state of structurally-sound 100% biocompatible and bio-active tissue. The company's portfolio of innovative technologies also includes breakthrough composite drug-eluting systems for a broad range of potential medical applications.

About MIV Therapeutics, Inc.

MIV Therapeutics, Inc. is developing a next-generation line of advanced biocompatible coatings for passive and drug-eluting application on cardiovascular stents and for application on other implantable medical devices. The Company's unique ultra-thin coatings, as well as its drug-eluting coatings, are based on a ceramic material called hydroxyapatite (HAp), a bioactive porous material that makes up the bone mineral and matrix of teeth and is widely used as a bone substitute material and for coating implantable fixation devices in orthopedic, dental and other applications. During in-vivo animal trials, HAp has demonstrated exceptional biocompatibility and excellent safety pursued by the science in the field of advanced implantable drug delivery systems. The Company's ultra-thin coating formulation is designed primarily to protect surrounding tissue from the chemical interaction with metal stents. The Company's novel drug eluting technologies are designed to provide an advanced alternative solution to polymer-based drug eluting coatings currently in the stent market. The Company's composite drug eluting coating technologies are designed to suit a broad range of implantable medical devices which may benefit from a highly customizable drug release profile. MIVT reached a Collaborative Research Agreement (CRA) with the University of British Columbia and supported a research and development grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) in 2002 for the development of Hydroxyapatite as a drug-eluting coating. In December 2004 MIVT received a Government grant for the research program titled "Development of Novel Drug Eluting Composite Coatings for Cardiovascular Stents."
