(financialwire.net via COMTEX) --
October
3, 2005 (FinancialWire) MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB: MIVT) gained 11.76% on
volume of 1,005,536, almost twice its average volume of 644,168, to
close at $1.52 after Ernest C. Schlotter, a senior analyst with
Investrend Research affiliate SISM Research, and a four-star analyst
according to San Francisco-based StarMine, reiterated his Speculative
Buy/4 rating for the company and set a new 6-month price target of
$2.50.
He said the target upgrade reflected very encouraging
results from its latest animal trials which paved the way for human
clinical trials to commence in early 2006.
The research is posted at http://www.sism.com and http://www.investrendresearch.com
Schlotter
noted in his Research Note that SISM has outlined an investment thesis
in its report that shows quite clearly that MIVT is still undervalued
(it has a current market cap of only $70.7 million). Despite this fact,
the stock has tripled in price since its last report, published on June
27, 2005. Since that time, the company has obtained more recognition in
the financial community, which was combined with very promising new and
exciting validation of their proprietary coating technologies from many
sources in and around the biomedical community.
MIVT has also
had very successful results from its latest animal trials and SISM
expects human clinical trials to commence in early 2006. Furthermore,
Frost & Sullivan, a global growth consulting company singled out
MIVT as a leader in the large and important medical coatings sector and
MIV Therapeutics won the prestigious Frost & Sullivan 2005
Technology Innovation Award for Advanced Medical Coatings. In addition,
MIVT closed a $4.14 million fundraiser in August; the money will be
sufficient to support the ongoing needs for the Company's operations
and research program and preparations for human clinical trials.
SISM
also mentioned in its report MIVT's newest technology breakthrough of
its proprietary "SMART" coating technology which was developed entirely
at MIVT's research and development facility in Vancouver, Canada. The
"SMART" drug delivery system is designed to improve the overall
biocompatibility of polymer composites and to increase the control of
drug delivery characteristics. Engineering specifications used in this
novel system provide considerably improved drug release flexibility,
including the option of releasing a wide variety of drugs to address
the various needs of a patient's particular pathological condition over
extended periods of time.
The planned acquisition of SMT would
provide a powerful synergy. SISM forecasts SMT to generate considerable
revenues in sales, and estimate the market for the combined entity
MIVT/SMT to grow to US$150 million within the next three years. Based
on the successful acquisition of SMT and the positive outcome of human
clinical trials, SISM Research values MIVT at a market cap of $250
million, which is still a 50% discount to similar comparable companies.
SISM Research maintains its Speculative Buy/4 rating and new set a new
6-Month Price Tag of $2.50.
